    Business Engagement Officer / Members Executive - Cardiff

    • Cardiff City Centre. Office-based with regular meetings & events across the city centre & Cardiff Bay
    • Opportunities for hybrid working following successful probation
    • Fixed Term until November 2031
    • Full Time, 37.5 hours per Week, Monday – Friday, (with very occasional evenings & weekends as required)
    • £27,900 per annum (increasing to £30,000 per annum from December 2026) + Annual Bonus of up to 4%

    The Role:

    As the organisation enters its third term and expands into Cardiff Bay, they embrace a period of significant growth and development. The organisation is delivering a larger business plan, operating across a wider geographical area and increasing its influence across policy, placemaking, sustainability and economic development.

    In accordance with this growth, and as a result of an internal promotion, we are seeking a confident, commercially aware and relationship focused Members Executive to manage and develop engagement with an assigned portfolio of levy paying businesses, ensuring they understand, access and gain value from their membership.

    As Members Executive, you’ll play a key part in delivering account-based engagement, gathering business intelligence, maintaining high-quality CRM records, and identifying trends affecting city centre businesses. As a visible representative of the organisation, you will support businesses with day-to-day issues, advocate for services, contribute insights to improve service delivery, and support wider organisational projects and ballot activity.

    Responsibilities:

    Business Engagement & Commercial Insight:

    • Manage a defined portfolio of businesses, delivering structured, account-based engagement.
    • Ensure businesses are aware of and benefit from the organisation’s services, projects, and opportunities.
    • Gather business intelligence through regular contact, site visits, and issue resolution.
    • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities affecting businesses and escalate insights to the Business Engagement Manager.
    • Understand commercial pressures across sectors and link services to business needs.

    Stakeholder Relationships, Communication & Representation:

    • Build trust-based relationships with business owners, managers, and frontline personnel across multiple sectors.
    • Communicate clearly and confidently across email, phone, meetings, and presentations, tailoring messages to audience and context.
    • Represent the organisation at networking events, meetings, pop ups, and other external formats.
    • Advocate for the organisations’ work and promote the value of membership.
    • Liaise with partners such as the council, police, charities, and training providers to support businesses and resolve issues.

    Operational Delivery, CRM Excellence & Collaboration:

    • Maintain accurate, detailed CRM records of all interactions, issues, and insights.
    • Translate CRM data into actionable insights that support targeted engagement and organisational decision making.
    • Support delivery of projects and cross team initiatives.
    • Organise workload effectively, follow through on commitments, and take a proactive approach to problem solving.
    • Assist with project delivery.

    Insight, Learning & Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay informed about sector trends, city centre developments, and issues affecting businesses in the portfolio.
    • Share insights with colleagues to inform service development and improve engagement approaches.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of engagement processes.
    • Seek opportunities to improve engagement tools, processes, and ways of working.

    Ballot Responsibilities:

    • Support targeted ballot engagement with assigned businesses, ensuring consistent and accurate messaging.
    • Track sentiment, concerns, and likelihood of support within the portfolio and maintain high-quality records.
    • Contribute to ballot related outreach, events, and communication activity as required.

    Skills & Experience:

    We are looking for an excellent networker who wants to have a positive impact on those who live, work and shop in Cardiff Bay and the city centre. You will have:

    Essential:

    • Previous experience of account management and/or customer service management.
    • Clear and confident communication skills including presenting within a professional setting.
    • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
    • Computer literacy with knowledge of MS Office and ideally a web-based database.
    • Ability to work on your own initiative.
    • Pro-active approach to problem solving.
    • Confidence in networking with a warm and approachable mannerism.

    Desirable:

    • Ability to communicate in Welsh
    • Experience within a membership organisation, Business Improvement District, charity, local government, regeneration, economic development or place-based organisation.
    • Familiarity with Welsh public policy, local government or the Cardiff business environment.
